Costa Rica

Working with Passports Educational Travel with their Adventures in Service Coordinator to look at a work project in Costa Rica. An 8-day trip that combines sightseeing with volunteer effort. Volunteer groups live in cabins on site of work project, provided all meals. Included are rainforest hikes, coffee tasting (coffee plantation ), cow milking, cheese and tortilla making, horseback ride, tropical nursery tour. Previous work projects have been implementing a recycling program for nearby communities, building a greenhouse and tree nursery, painting various community buildings, refurbishing the local water infrastructure. We won't know what our project is until close to the time for our visit as they have a timeline and need to know what's finished before assigning tasks far out.

We're considering this more for 2012, but if there is immediate interest, we could take a small group this spring break or summer.
